Background Information:
The Chair of the Board of Supervisors executed a letter on behalf of the Board in response to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) 15-day public comment period regarding proposed regulatory actions that may impact fleet operations. Given Tehama County’s large geographic area, rural and agricultural landscape, and reliance on vehicles for critical public services and emergency response, this regulation could become expensive and unmanageable for rural communities like Tehama County. The letter outlines operational considerations unique to our region. Approval of this item will authorize submission of the County’s comments to ensure local conditions and service needs are represented in the state’s decision-making process. Due to timing considerations, the letter was transmitted prior to formal Board consideration.
