Background Information:
In April 2026, the Tehama County Sheriff's Office submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for funding through the FY 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program - Local Formula Grant. The Sheriff's Office has subsequently received conditional approval for the grant award.
The FY 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program will provide funding to enhance law enforcement effectiveness, officer safety, and investigative capabilities throughout Tehama County. Grant funds will be used to purchase essential law enforcement equipment, including one rifle for the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, three firearms for law enforcement personnel, patrol K-9 supplies, and a television to support the Major Crimes Unit's investigative and operational functions.
