Financial Impact:
Appropriate funding is available in the agency’s budget to cover this expenditure. The bi-weekly salary for the position Salary Range 31, Step A, is $2205.60 ($27.57 hourly). The increased cost from Step A to Step E is approximately $12,355.20 in annual salary. The Department has sufficient funds budgeted for this position. There is no impact on the General Fund.
Background Information:
The Department of Social Services requests placement at Other Than A Step, Range 31, Step E, for an Information Systems Technician. Our candidate meets more than the minimum qualifications of this position and brings over 8 years’ experience in Information Systems technology including but not limited to installation of hardware and software, help desk support and system troubleshooting. Additionally, the candidate brings an associate’s degree in information technology/networking and has completed 69 additional semester units towards a bachelor’s degree in information technology/advanced networking. If this action is not approved, the Department will lose an opportunity to hire a highly qualified applicant.
The Personnel Office has reviewed the candidate’s qualifications and is in agreement with placement at Step E.
