Financial Impact:

No fiscal impact is associated with receiving this update. Approximately $600,000 in Section 5311 rural transit assistance funding has been awarded for the future vehicle purchase. Use of the funds will be subject to the final grant standard agreements, applicable funding requirements, and required procurement approvals.

Background Information:

Staff is continuing to plan for the future purchase of four replacement transit buses as part of the agency’s ongoing fleet replacement program. The procurement is anticipated to occur during Fiscal Year 2026-27 and is intended to support the continued operation of a safe, reliable, and efficient public transit fleet.

Approximately $600,000 in Section 5311 rural transit assistance funding has been awarded for the replacement vehicle purchase. Staff are currently awaiting the standard grant agreements and will review the final agreement terms, eligible use requirements, and any applicable state or federal conditions before proceeding with the procurement process.

The proposed bus replacements are consistent with the agency’s long-range fleet management and capital replacement planning. Replacing aging vehicles will help improve fleet reliability, reduce maintenance needs, minimize service disruptions, and support continued safe and dependable transit service for TRAX riders.

Staff is currently evaluating vehicle needs, specifications, procurement timelines, grant compliance requirements, and funding availability in preparation for the FY 2026-27 procurement process. Additional information will be brought forward as the standard agreements are received and procurement details are finalized.
