Financial Impact:

The funds for this service are currently budgeted in FY 25/26, Budget Units 2032-53120 and 2027-53120.

Background Information:

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office serves a diverse population and periodically requires bilingual assistance to effectively conduct investigations and perform other law enforcement duties. Clear and accurate communication is essential to ensure public safety and provide equitable access to services for all residents.

Partnering with Social Services to secure bilingual support will enhance the Sheriff’s Office’s capacity to respond to non-English-speaking residents, improve the accuracy of reporting, and strengthen relationships with vulnerable populations. This collaboration will help ensure that all members of the community have fair and consistent access to law enforcement and public safety services, regardless of language barriers.
