Financial Impact:

There will be no financial impact on the General Fund because $47,691.58 of this purchase was already encumbered in FY 22/23 in budget unit 2027, account 57605. The overage will be covered by AB443 funds in the amount of $14,628.47.

Background Information:

In FY 22/23 the Sheriff’s Office was originally allowed to order a (1) one new Ford Expedition. The Sheriff’s Office placed the order with Downtown Ford as they were awarded the California State Contract 1-22-23-23F. The order was then cancelled via the vendor as they could only fill so many orders throughout the state and the Sheriff’s Office was not one of those selected.

Shortly after, Downtown Ford reordered the Ford Expedition and again the order was cancelled via the vendor, due to the same reason. Downtown Ford again reordered the Ford Expedition, and it has now come in but due to the time lapse, prices have increased, and Ford has not offered price protection since 2021.

Downtown Ford currently has (7) seven Ford Expedition left in their inventory and this would allow the Sheriff’s Office to obtain a vehicle now instead of waiting to go through the ordering process again.

The transfer request is to facilitate the purchase of (1) one new Ford Expedition 4X4.
