Requested Action(s)

recommendation

a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Chair to sign the Agreement with Valley Veterinary Clinic RB, Inc., for the purpose of providing dog and cat spay and neuter services for the amounts as listed with a maximum amount not to exceed $100,000, effective 11/1/26 and shall terminate 10/31/27

body

Financial Impact:

Spay/Neuter surgeries are performed on animals at the time of adoption or during specific sponsored situations. Spay/Neuter fees will be collected from the adopter or sponsored by the Division’s Spay/Neuter Trust.

Background Information:

The Division of Animal Services has entered into an agreement with Valley Veterinary Clinic to perform spay/neuter services for many years.  CA Food and Agriculture Code requires dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered prior to release to the new owner at the time of adoption. Without the requested action, the Division would be unable to keep up with the number of animals requiring surgery to be adopted, resulting in a decrease in adoptions and extended length of stay for animals in the shelter.
