Financial Impact:

Appropriate funding is in the department’s budget to cover this expenditure. The bi-weekly salary for the position Range 23 Step A is $1,757.60 ($21.97 hourly).  The increased cost from A to B is approximately $2,288 in annual salary. The Department has sufficient funds budgeted for this position.

 

Background Information:

The Veteran Services Department requests placement at Other Than A Step, Range 23, Step B for a Veterans Services Representative. The candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree from the United State Military Academy with a double major in Russian and Spanish. This candidate has worked with the VA extensively on cases of their own and has experience gathering information and medical evidence, submitting claims, reviewing exams, and appealing decisions. The candidate’s unique professional and personal experience over the last 30 years will help this candidate quickly adapt to the Veteran’s Service Office. This applicant is also a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

If this action is not approved, the Department will lose an opportunity to hire a highly qualified applicant.

 

The Personnel Office has reviewed the candidate’s qualifications and agrees with placement at Salary Range 23, Step B upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements.
