Financial Impact:
Funding will not impact the FY 25/26 general fund budget and will be supported with federal asset forfeiture funding, AB443 funds, and grant funding.
Background Information:
Cardan Aircraft Services has been providing ongoing aircraft maintenance, inspections, and approved aircraft alterations for the Tehama County Sheriff's Office helicopter, N911NN. These services are essential to ensure the continued airworthiness, operational reliability, and regulatory compliance of the aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements.
During the current agreement term, the cost of rebuilding and maintaining the aircraft has exceeded the original cost estimates due to inflation and additional repairs identified during the rebuilding process. As a result, the existing not-to-exceed amount is insufficient to fully cover the services necessary to maintain the aircraft in a safe, airworthy, and fully operational condition for the term of the agreement.
The requested increase to the not-to-exceed amount will allow the Sheriff's Office to continue obtaining timely maintenance and specialized aircraft services from Cardan Aircraft Services without interruption. This amendment will ensure the helicopter remains fully mission-capable to support law enforcement operations, emergency response, search and rescue missions, and mutual aid requests throughout Tehama County and surrounding jurisdictions.
