Background Information:
On August 22, 2026, Assemblyman James Gallagher presented Assembly Joint Resolution 23 (AJR 23) to the Tehama County Board of Supervisors and requested the Board’s support for the measure. AJR 23 would express the consent of the California Legislature, pursuant to Article IV, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, for certain California counties, including Tehama County, to pursue the formation of a new state.
The proposed Resolution recognizes Tehama County’s unique economic, geographic, agricultural, and governmental needs and supports providing residents with a meaningful voice in considering the governmental structure and policies that affect their community.
