Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact on the General Fund. If offered and accepted, grant revenue would be offset by an equal expense. This grant does not require matching funds.
Background Information:
Tehama County Library has been selected as a Zip Book Project participant for the past several years, allowing the Library to increase the number of new books added to our collection without impacting the General Fund.
This program allows a patron to request a book or audiobook which is not available in our collection, which is then purchased by the Library through Amazon and shipped directly to the patron’s home. The patron has three weeks to use the book or audiobook, after which time the item is returned to the Library and added to the collection for other patrons to check out. This program is hugely popular with Tehama County Library patrons, allowing them to request specific books and help the Library grow its collection with books and audiobooks that align with the local community’s needs and interests.
