body

Financial Impact:

The funds for the requested action are a result of the Peer Mentor agreement and approval of this MOU.

Background Information:

On January 25, 2023, the Division of Animal Services entered into a Peer Mentor agreement with Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS) for the purpose of matching animal rescue and sheltering organizations across the U.S. allowing the entities to share ideas, learn from each other, assist organizations in further developing their expertise and to help organizations increase their overall effectiveness and lifesaving impact.

Because of its leadership in the field, the Division of Animal Services was asked to serve as a mentor to Colusa County Animal Shelter (Misc. Agreement #33PA23).

On April 15, 2024, BFAS requested the Division of Animal Services conduct a low cost vaccine and microchipping clinic in Colusa County.  Based on a discussion with the Division, BFAS is awarding the Division funds in the amount of $6,500 to conduct the proposed clinic in Colusa County.  Pending approval of this MOU, the Division plans to host the vaccine and microchipping clinic on June 13, 2024 in Williams.
