Background Information:
The candidate has the following experience and training to justify this request. The candidate has 28 years of experience as a sworn peace officer between the Tehama County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office. During the candidate's service with the Sheriff's Office, they worked in operations and administration divisions where they gained experience as a patrol deputy, background investigator, and detective. Currently the candidate routinely is involved with homicide and officer involved shooting cases, as well as other complex law enforcement investigations.
The candidate has advanced training in firearms, computer forensics and specialized law enforcement equipment. They provided expert testimonies during legal proceedings, which contributed to successful prosecution of offenders in numerous cases. During investigations the candidate accurately documented crime reports, witness statements, and gathered crucial evidence by executing search warrants and processing crime scenes meticulously. As an investigator they communicated effectively with citizens from diverse backgrounds and fostered positive relationships between law enforcement and the community members.
The combination of their training, experience and special skills justifies the increase to Step 5. The hiring of this employee is a benefit to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office and the community we serve.
