The funding source for this program is the United States Federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The grant funds are used to strengthen the communities emergency response and helps support the Office of Emergency Services (OES).


Background Information:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), administers the Emergency Management Performance Grant Program (EMPG) to assist state and local emergency management agencies in developing and sustaining the capabilities necessary to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impacts of natural and human-caused disasters.

EMPG funding supports essential emergency management activities within the Sheriff's Office and the County's emergency management program. These funds help offset the cost of one full-time Sergeant position and associated overtime incurred during emergency incidents. The grant also supports key operational expenses, including the radio repeater land lease agreement, the Records Information Management System (RIMS) emergency incident and response software, maintenance of generators located at the Dispatch Communications Center, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and the Sheriff's Office facility, as well as ongoing maintenance of the radio communications tower located at the Dispatch Center.
