The conference is presented annually by the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. The conference is conducted to provide training to those employed by government or nonprofit agencies in the fields of law enforcement, child protective services, social work, children ‘s advocacy, therapy, and medicine who work directly with child victims of crime.

Thirty-seven years ago, the Crime Against Children Conference started with just 50 attendees. That year, two speakers - Brian Killacky, who was detective with the Chicago Police Department, and Ken Lanning, who was a Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI - provided training to this small group of law enforcement professionals. Since 1988, professionals involved in the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of crimes against children have been coming in growing numbers to receive training at this premier conference.
