Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the General Fund. Funds for this requested action will be from unanticipated revenue received in account 2061-450530, State Agriculture.
Background Information:
On 2/10/2026 the Purchasing Department advertised for bid, one (1) new 3/4 ton 4x4 extended cab long bed pickup truck. At bid opening on 2/20/2026 the Purchasing Department received four bids. The lowest responsive bid was Corning Ford. The County's Local Vendor Preference Ordinance was not applicable to this bid as the low bid was an in-County vendor.
The requested F-250 will be used in remote areas of the County where reliability is critical for employee safety. It will replace an older high-mileage F-250 that will remain in service for limited local use in our Weights & Measures program.
An F-250 is required to safely carry the weight of approximately 150 gallons of spray solution and permanent equipment including a spray skid that was measured for and built to fit the truck bed of an F-250, a tank, motor, backpack sprayers, and boomless nozzles. An eight-foot bed will also allow installation of a truck box for storing herbicide and sprayer parts, enabling field mixing and refilling, and quick adjustments to active ingredients while reducing trips back to the storage facility.
