Background Information:
Congress has established a process called “Community Project Funding,” which allows Members to submit funding requests for specific programs and projects based in their District. Community Project Funding (CPF) requests are submitted by a Member of Congress (Representative or Senator) for direct Federal funding in support of a local project or program. Only governmental or non-profit entities are eligible for Community Project Funding requests.
Staff requested funding under this program in 2023 and were nominated by Congressman LaMalfa. The Tehama County Transportation Commission was very honored to have received a nomination for Community Project Funding for FY 2024 totaling $6,500,000. This project will reconstruct an existing facility to provide for the safety of pedestrians, remove hazards and clear a recovery zone, as well as develop a complete streets bike/pedestrian facility that may be utilized for the use of emergency vehicles during an incident.
This announcement is preliminary in nature as staff are currently collaborating with the Congressman to coordinate a formal release of information to the press and local stakeholders.
